About Us
In 2019, Iolana Ritte-Corpuz, 'Aina Momona's farm manager, along with the Kia'i Aloha 'Aina crew, initiated the transformation of a kiawe-dominated landscape into a thriving agricultural area featuring 'ulu trees, kalo, native plants, bananas, and more. Their approach involved removing invasive species like kiawe and reintroducing traditional Hawaiian crops. This effort was part of a broader initiative by 'Aina Momona, to restore traditional food systems and cultural practices at the Keawanui Fishpond and Cultural Learning Site.
Practices
Our farming practices emphasize sustainability and cultural preservation, integrating place-based education programs that focus on environmental stewardship, gardening, health, wellness, and community service. By combining ecological restoration with cultural education, we seek to create a scalable model for community-led land restoration and food production on Moloka'i.
